Couponing for Beginners

There on TV, I witnessed so many people saving hundreds of dollars using coupons.  I thought this is too good to be true!  Then I looked a little closer to what was in their shopping carts.  100 bottles of mustard or 200 packs of gum.  Things that I could not feed my family on of course.  However, I did give couponing a try and for some things I have found it to be a wonderful savings!
For my family of five, we tend to go through a lot of shampoo, conditioner, razors and things of that nature and there are many wonderful coupons that really help to cut down on that cost.
Here is what I have done to help keep a little of my money in my pocket.
  1. I subscribe to the local paper and have two Sunday papers delivered every week.
  2. I purchased a binder and filled it with plastic baseball card pages.  I went to TheKrazyCouponLady and found a great tutorial for starting your binder.  The binder is key to fast, efficient and organized shopping.  I tried without one and it was a disaster!
  3. I printed dividers from KrazyKouponLadies.  They are functional AND pretty!
  4. Cut and sort your coupons in your handy dandy folder.
  5. To make my shopping experience the most beneficial, I then go to CouponMom.com. There you can look at sales by state and by store.  I find my local grocery and it will help you produce a shopping list.  It will break it down in a very detailed manner.  I can see how many items I need to get to get the most bang out of my buck and it will even tell me where I can locate the coupons!
  6. I then print my list and  pull my coupons so that I have everything right in reach.  I still take my binder to the store with me because there are times that I will find an unadvertised sale and I would hate to miss out!
I hope you find this helpful!  I know that with a house full of girls with long hair, just the savings I find in shampoo and conditioner is amazing!  Happy Shopping!
